early 2017 must read list

It has been a couple of months since my last Top Ten Tuesday and as a lover of lists, I have missed it! What better way to start back up then with a must read list for the early months of 2017? Some of these are ARCs I requested, new releases I can’t wait for or older releases I’m eager to finally get to.

P.S. I could not contain myself to just ten. Enjoy!

ARCs To Read

When Dimple Met Rishi – I’ve never requested contemporary but this cover was so cute and I was really curious once I read the synopsis. It’s always good to try new things right? (Releases May 30th)

Bone Witch – Kindly sent to me by Raincoast Books, I hadn’t heard of it but I’m so glad they brought it to my attention. The cover is beautiful and it sounds like a haunting new fantasy. Plus, it has elemental magic so you know I’m all over that. (Releases March 7th)

 New Releases

Wires And Nerve – Iko, need I say more? You all know how much I love this sassy android and I can’t wait to see where her adventures take her. (Releases January 31st)

Heart Stone – First zombies and now dragons? This is one Pride and Prejudice crossover I can get behind and it’s been awhile since I read a good dragon story. No pressure LOL (Releases January 17th)

Dark Breaks The Dawn – seriously, 2017 is killing it with these amazing covers! Dark Breaks the Dawn is about a girl who can shape shift and if I could pick one ability that would be it. The summary also mentions a struggle between the dark and the light which always has the potential for good action and adventure. I have high hopes for this one.  (Releases May 30th)

Continuing Series

The Edge Of The Abyss – Possibly my most anticipated sequel. If you like diversity, action, sci-fi and epic sea monsters you should check out Emily Skrutskie’s first book The Abyss Surrounds Us.

ACOWAR – I’m sure this is making it onto a lot of lists today. I can’t wait to see Feyre’s undercover dealings and see karma pay a visit to some deserving characters. I’m also excited and nervous because it’s 200 pages shorter than ACOMAF, so I suspect a lot of heart pounding, edge-of-my-seat, action!

Our Dark Duet – I honestly thought that This Savage Song was a stand alone, I felt it could have been but I’m curious to see where the story goes. With the promise of new monsters and old faces, this is sure to be another favorite from Schwab.

Now I Rise – Okay I wasn’t blown away by And I Darken but it did intrigue me enough that I knew I needed to read the sequel and I mean come on – that cover! And I Darken was my favorite cover of 2016 and I feel like I can go ahead and say the same for Now I Rise in 2017.

Older Releases

Empire of Storms – No, I haven’t read it yet! and thankfully I haven’t really been spoiled except about a certain new ship. Last January I enjoyed Queen of Shadows so this is sort of becoming a tradition I look forward to.

The Rose and the Dagger – Another sequel I can’t wait to dive into! I love Shazi.

The Midnight Star – I really can’t wait to see how this story ends, it isn’t a long book and I feel like Adelina we left Adelina on a pretty happy/sad note in the second book. What surprises does Marie Lu have for us in this finale?

Morning Star – So many endings! I really don’t know if I’m ready for this one, I think that’s why I’ve been putting it off, I’m not ready to say goodbye to Darrow. This promises to be full of action and intrigue.

Both Windwitch and The Alchemists of Loom are released in January 2017 and would have made the top of this list had I not already read them in December. HIGHLY recommend both of these titles and you will find my reviews for them posted later this month!

  1. How could I have forgotten about Wires and Nerve? Somehow, that book totally escaped me. Marissa Meyer is one of my favorites, and I loved Iko as well, so you got me really excited for this book again! I can’t believe that ACOWAR is going to be 200 pages shorter. *cries* I was hoping for like 500 pages longer, just because I love these books so much!

    1. Lol I know what you mean, often the last book is as long if not longer than the previous one. I feel like those pages will be amazing with nay a word wasted. So glad I could remind you about W&N, I can’t wait to read it.
