January Owlcrate Unboxing

New year, new Owlcrate!

Today I will be sharing with you this months Owlcrate!

Here is a photo of the unboxing, if you would like to see the items in more detail, find my unboxing video below. This months theme was Magic.

1.) The Owlcrate ‘postcard’ as always. I really love these, I appreciate the thought and creativity that goes into each one. This months reminded me of a tarot card.

2.) A FUNKO POP! Sorry I am very excited because this is my very first one. Owlcrate sent out five different characters and I recieved Snape! Which is so lovely after Alan Rickman passing away earlier this month.

3.) A Patronus Lip Balm in White Chocolate Mint by Geek Fire Labs

4.) A Raven Boys inspired bookmark made my Evie Bookish. I love Evie’s Redbubble and Society6 shop. She has beautiful designs and you can have them printed on mugs, pillow cases, totes, and much more.

5.) A TOG inspired quote print!!! And from Evie Bookish.This. Is. So. Gorgeous! I cannot wait to hang it up, I just need to find a frame worthy.

6.) A card describing the book A Knot in the Grain by Robin McKinley… I am not sure if this is free or at a discount? It sounds good at least. It is a collection of five stories but this is not a new release.

7.) The book! This month it is Worlds of Ink and Shadow by Lena Coakley and it comes with a paper dress-up doll (???) and a letter from the author.

Charlotte, Branwell, Emily, and Anne. The Brontë siblings have always been close. After all, nothing can unite four siblings quite like life in an isolated parsonage on the moors. Their vivid imaginations lend them escape from their strict, spartan upbringing, actually transporting them into their created worlds: the glittering Verdopolis and the romantic and melancholy Gondal. But at what price? As Branwell begins to slip into madness and the sisters feel their real lives slipping away, they must weigh the cost of their powerful imaginations, even as their characters—the brooding Rogue and dashing Duke of Zamorna—refuse to let them go.

This richly conceived, haunting fantasy draws on the early writings of this most famous literary family to explore the deathless bonds between sisters and brothers, between writers and their creations.

After thoughts: While I love the funko pop and products from Evie Bookish I am not overly excited about the book. The note from the author is nice but the dress up doll? It’s cute but for me this will just eventually get recycled. I like to receive products I can use and enjoy beyond unboxing day. I will have to read the book and see if my opinion changes.

December Owlcrate Unboxing

It’s here. It’s here. It’s here. It’s here!

It’s like Christmas came early! My December Owlcrate

Here is a photo of the unboxing, if you would like to see the items in more detail, find my unboxing video below. This months theme was Get Inspired.

1.) This months ‘postcard’ is a lovely, cozy picture and if you look very closely you can see last months framed on the mantle piece.

2.) From Frostbeard Studios we have a candle. WOW this smells so good, it’s called Reading at the Cafe and I adore it. I have always wanted a bookish candle.

3.) A What I Read journal, I recently discovered reading journals and I’m so excited to have my hands on one. I will TRY to fill it out as I read in 2016. TRY.

4.) The Little Prince magnet by Sandra Vargas, I don’t have anywhere to put this at the moment but I’m sure it will come in handy when I move.

5.) A To-Do list with a reading octopus on it? So cute! I am a big writer of list so this is PERFECT for me. This was made by boygirlparty.

6.) This months books is… Da Vinci’s Tiger by L M Elliot and it comes with fun poetry magnets for the fridge!

Young, beautiful, and witty, Ginevra de’ Benci longs to take part in the artistic ferment of Renaissance Florence. But as the daughter of a wealthy family in a society dictated by men, she is trapped in an arranged marriage, expected to limit her creativity to domestic duties. Her poetry reveals her deepest feelings, and she aches to share her work, to meet painters and sculptors mentored by the famed Lorenzo de Medici, and to find love.

When the charismatic Venetian ambassador, Bernardo Bembo, arrives in Florence, he introduces Ginevra to a dazzling circle of patrons, artists, and philosophers—a world of thought and conversation she has yearned for. She is instantly attracted to the handsome newcomer, who admires her mind as well as her beauty. Yet Ginevra remains conflicted about his attentions. Choosing her as his Platonic muse, Bembo commissions a portrait by a young Leonardo da Vinci. Posing for the brilliant painter inspires an intimate connection between them—one Ginevra can only begin to understand. In a rich and enthralling world of exquisite art, elaborate feasts, and exhilarating jousts, she faces many temptations to discover her voice, artistic companionship, and a love that defies categorization. In the end, she and Leonardo are caught up in a dangerous and deadly battle between powerful families.

After thoughts: All these items are a win for me. I don’t know a lot about the book but if it’s good then this crate gets two big thumbs up! All the items are beautiful and I can see me using them all, unlike some of last months. They are cute and bookish and I can’t wait for you to get yours! If you haven’t subscribed yet I highly recommend it ! To subscribe to Owlcrate click –> HERE

Secret Santa Has Arrived!

Guys! My #tbtbsecretsanta parcel arrived today!! *Cue happy dance*
I have admittedly been stalking my mailwoman every day for this, among others deliveries I am expecting, and I do feel a little creepy, but who cares! ITS HERE! I knew I was going to want to do an unboxing video so I ran for my tripod and then the unwrapping commenced!
If you want to see my reactions to opening this box of awesomeness then you can watch it here but if you’d prefer to read about it then just scroll down a little further…

Okay so first there was a lovely card wishing me a merry Christmas and giving me the identity and contact info of my secret Santa. Guess what?! We have the same name, thats right her name is Jessica too! She informed me in the card that I should enjoy the tea right away but that I could wait to open the books later if I like. As if I could wait, lol. I did open the tea first and it was amazing, its called Sleigh Ride by David’s Tea. I have never bought David’s Tea but after trying this one, I need more! I love tea BTW. The two books I received were The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and The Assassins Blade by Sarah J Maas. Also inside one of the books was a package of owl themed I-clips which I thought was really need. I am always worried that my page flags will tear my book pages but these owls are perfect for marking quotes and favourite scenes.

All in all I loved this whole secret Santa experience. The buying, wrapping and sending, as well as the receiving. I highly recommend this experience to everyone next year; I can’t wait for it myself! And it’s not even Christmas yet.

November Owlcrate Unboxing

It’s here guys!

My very first Owlcrate arrived, and after I did a little jig around my kitchen – yes a jig – I dove right on in!

Here is a photo of the unboxing; this months theme was Myths & Legends

1.) A bracelet that say ‘Camp Halfblood’ made by The Colorful Geek (Not Pictured – Oops)

2.) The. Most. Amazing. Tea. Seriously I wish I could share with you how good this tea smells! It is called Sleeping Beauty and the info card says the sent out four different flavors this month. I wonder what the others are? This tea is from Adiago teas and contains  It contains honeybush, apple, peach, chamomile, marigold and creme flavors.

3.) A castle necklace from The Geeky Cauldron. It does open up but I’m not sure what I would put inside exactly.

4.) A Mermaid pocket mirror from My Clockwork Castle. Handy I suppose and very pretty but I don’t think I will get much use out of it.

5.) A Soundless bookmark

6.) Vampire Academy temporary tattoos

7.) And of course… a book! It was Soundless by Richelle Mead. I haven’t read any of her work so I am excited to give it a try and I admit I am glad this one isnt about vampires. Here is the Goodreads synopsis for Soundless

For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.
When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.
But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.
Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever.

After thoughts: I didnt love all the items but the tea and the book were so perfect that they won me over. Honestly I did expect more from this months theme. But I am taking advantage of the black friday sale and signing up for 3 more months before I make a final verdict.
